Three main symptoms of Lipedema

-01.

Uneven Increase in Fat in Legs or Arms

One of the hallmark symptoms of Lipedema is the abnormal accumulation of fat in the legs, and sometimes in the arms, which can give them a noticeably disproportionate appearance compared to the rest of the body. This fat deposition is often resistant to traditional diet and exercise and can lead to significant cosmetic concerns and discomfort.

-02.

Tenderness or Pain in Certain Areas

Many individuals with Lipedema experience tenderness or pain in the affected regions. This discomfort can range from aching to more severe pain and is often exacerbated by pressure or touch. Identifying these painful areas is crucial for recognising Lipedema. Regular fat caused by being overweight or obesity does not cause pain or tenderness.

-03.

Swelling and Inflammation

Lipedema often begins with noticeable and persistent swelling, typically in the lower limbs but sometimes affecting the arms as well. This swelling can create a sensation of heaviness and discomfort in the affected areas. Often women with Lipedema note that the swelling and inflammation in their limbs is worse after being on their feet or during periods of hot weather.
