Dr. Wright and his team are angels sent to help women suffering from lipedema.
I discovered I had lipedema myself thanks to googling symptoms. I educated my GP who agreed with my diagnosis and referred me to a local plastic surgeon. That doctor completely dismissed me, told me it was just excess weight, there was nothing I could do except lose weight (I had already lost 90 lbs at this point). I left that appointment in tears and felt hopeless. If I had listened to that doctor, I would have suffered for the rest of my life.
I knew he was wrong, so I continued advocating for my health. I found out about Dr. Wright’s team from a woman online who had gone through several surgeries. Lucky for me, he was just a couple hours away.
When I had my initial appointment, it was such an affirming experience. I was seen, heard, and believed. I was not dismissed.
Dr. Wright and his team set me up with a conservative treatment plan and got all five of my surgeries approved by insurance.
I just finished my last surgery and feel like a new woman. I am able to move with ease, I don’t wake up with my legs aching at night, I can have fun shopping for clothes again.

I traveled 3 and half hours just to see Dr Wright and I was not disappointed. He was very kind, professional, very knowledgeable and his bedside manner was exceptional. His entire staff was very nice and pleasant to work with as well. I will be following his care plan and coming back up to see him. I have found my forever doctor to help with my lipedema. I highly recommend seeing him.

Meeting with him on my first visit, I knew that he was the right doctor for me. His knowledge and expertise made me nurses in that I could trust him and his nurses with my lipedema reduction journey. They take the time to explain everything you need to know and answer any questions or concerns you may have. They are so personable and compassionate and really do care about all their patients. I have had 3 procedures done already and my 4th one is next month. ( I can’t wait to hear Dr. Wright sing again during surgery, I love it!) The results that I have had so far have made an incredible difference for me, not only how I look, but how I feel.

I have been under the care of Dr. Thomas Wright for nearly two years and recently completed my second lipedema reduction surgery with him. I cannot say enough about the level of care and compassion he and his staff provide.
I travel about five hours to receive treatment at his office, and it is absolutely worth it. From the very beginning, Dr. Wright and his entire team have been kind, respectful, and genuinely caring. As a woman living with lipedema, I’ve spent most of my life not fully understanding my body, which led to significant body image struggles. Seeking medical care, especially when your body is the focus, can feel incredibly vulnerable and uncomfortable.
Dr. Wright and his staff create an environment completely free of judgment. They are thoughtful, professional, and deeply respectful in every interaction. Dr. Wright personally called me on a Saturday to check on how I was doing after surgery. That level of dedication and compassion speaks volumes about the kind of physician he is.

I am so grateful that I found Dr. Thomas Wright and his fabulous team! From my very first appointment, I finally felt heard by a team that understood what I have been suffering. I scheduled my appointment and was in pretty quickly. They made me feel comfortable when I had to expose insecurities for the exams and take photos.
Dr. Wright is one of the kindest and most genuine doctors ever. He took his time, explained everything clearly, answered all of mine and my husbands questions and talked through the plan that worked best for me. I left my appointment(s) feeling excited for my future.
As for the lipedema procedure, I had a great experience for all 5 of my surgeries. Dr. Wright and his team were incredibly attentive and compassionate. I felt fully prepared and very well cared for from start to finish. I was truly blessed to have Dr. Wright and his team. Those nurses are amazing! Nurse Sara was with me the majority of the time and when she wasn’t, she followed up to check on me, but the entire team, is phenomenal.
Dr Wright and his team is top notch. The care and compassion displayed early in my lipedema diagnosis to the reduction procedures have been amazing. There were preventative measures discussed upon my initial visit with a several year pause while I digested the diagnosis, did a ton of research and made lifestyle changes. When I sat up time to follow up and begin the reduction procedures, Dr Wright continued to show his compassion and expertise for me to make the right decisions. His staff has been consistent both in tenure and in compassion and expertise throughout the years. Him and his team has changed my life. I am almost done with the procedures and will continue my compression and annual visits. His advocacy and passion for our disease has and will continue to make changes for the better.
I wish I even knew that lipedema existed. I knew I had something. I seen Dr Wright on a news program explaining it. I looked into it and I knew that is exactly what was wrong with me. From beginning to end of the appointment, they were very professional. I can’t wait to see my end results!

Dr. Wright and his nurses are an extraordinary team. Before choosing Dr. Wright as my Lipedema surgeon I did go to Madrid Spain to talk to one of the very good doctors there as well, but my final decision was to go to Dr. Wright in Missouri. I had three surgeries done, and I am recovering currently from lower legs.
Dr. Wright and the nurses made the visits and the surgeries enjoyable. They answer all of your questions and make you feel extremely comfortable. Traveling from Ohio to have my surgeries with Dr. Wright was definitely the best decision for me.
Amy, thank you for posting a review about Dr. Wright. I am considering consulting with him, and also considering a doctor in Madrid, as well. Can you tell me what made you choose Dr. Wright over the doctor in Madrid?Assuming you paid out of pocket, as will I, it’s probably a lot more expensive with Dr. Wright, correct?? Money is a big issue, but it is not the only consideration for me. Dr. Wright’s excellent reputation, his much closer location and honest feedback from people such as you are also very important. Dr. Wright and his staff are amazing! I am so happy that after so many years of being self-conscious about my varicose veins I finally did something about it and saw treatment. It was a process, but I am so thankful for the amazing work. Dr. Wright and his staff were able to do with sclerotherapy and their advocating to my insurance company to ensure I received the treatment I needed. I highly recommend Dr. Wright and his staff or any type of vein treatment, no matter the level of mean.
I have had three surgeries with Dr. Wright after paying out-of-pocket for my first with a different surgeon. Dr. Wright and his team has helped me get my lipedema surgeries approved through Insurance within 2 weeks of being submitted. I have had surgeries in July 2025, September 2025, and my final and third surgery with him in December 2025. I am beyond thrilled with the results and would choose him anytime again. His team and himself are very caring and build an awesome relationship with patients which makes you feel really comfortable and understood!
Dr Wright and his staff are nothing short of amazing; they are truly talented at treating Lipedema and they are all around awesome and compassionate humans. I have enjoyed getting to know Dr Wright and his team over the past year as I have completed 5 reduction surgeries; and while I am happy and grateful to be finished with my procedures and ecstatic about the life I have regained because of these procedures; a piece of me is sad that I will no longer be traveling to visit them regularly as I have over this past year. Dr. Wright and his staff are amazing.
They take their time to explain everything and make sure you are comfortable and that all of your needs are met.

I have had 4 lipedema reduction surgeries with Dr. Wright and have been pleased with all of them. Scheduled for my final surgery at the end of April 2024 and can’t say enough about Dr. Wright and his staff. From my initial consultation throughout the entire process, he and his staff have been amazing. Shelly worked wonders with my insurance company and quickly got me approved for all the procedures. Dr Wright is a very accomplished physician. He is professional, kind and caring. He obviously wants the best for his patients. He actually listens to patients and treats them with great gentleness. This is so important as lipedema is painful. He has a carefully-chosen staff which upholds his ideals of care and concern. I believe Dr Wright saved my mobility and improved my quality of life going forward.
